Merry Christmas everybody!

Happy Hanukkah to [info]pensive1  albeit a bit late though... :/  But <3 anyway.  :D

A half a week after finals got out, I turned in my final Old English essay.  It's a half a page short (going in halves here apparently), and I hope that's okay.  I just.. ugh.  I'm so incredibly done with school.  This semester just whipped me out, and I hated my two English classes... the OE seminar was cool and Russian was fun, but the English classes just sucked.  Even though the professor I really didn't like gave me A's on both of my papers.  It's nice to know that she's not biased because she didn't like me in class, but apparently she loved my papers.

Anyway.  I hope to dive into some writing now that I have the time, though that's relative... we'll see.  Still excited about Sherlock Holmes, and OMG IRON MAN 2 eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  Yeah.  I don't really think there's that much else to say.  School just took over, there really hasn't been anything that note-worthy.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday though.  :D  I put cards in the mailbox today but apparently they won't go out until Saturday because I missed the mail truck anyway.  Also made truffles this year, they turned out... interesting.  I'll have to post about that later.

Woo!
Happy birthday to the fabulous [info]charmisjess ! I come bearing crack in your honor, Master.

Dooku had never been much of a fan of birthdays. It seemed pointless and slightly morbid to celebrate being another year closer to one's death, and all the fuss surrounding parties (particularly if they were supposed to be a surprise) inevitably got out of hand. When Qui-Gon talked him into going out to a restaurant, at the very least, Dooku figured it was better to humor the boy than risk him planning something truly embarassing in his honor.

...His Padawan swore he hadn't known about the hideous "traditional" birthday sombrero, but somehow Dooku suspected otherwise.

Huh. This is my family's Annual Road Trip, in a nutshell. Add the Pioneer sugar silos, graffiti-ed freight trains running parallel to the highway, and that creepy industrial sector just outside of Detroit, and you're there.

An excerpt of Bob Hicok's "A Primer":
A Midwesterner can use the word “truth,”
can sincerely use the word “sincere.”
In truth the Midwest is not mid or west.
When I go back to Michigan I drive through Ohio.
There is off I-75 in Ohio a mosque, so life
goes corn corn corn mosque, I wave at Islam,
which we’re not getting along with on account of the Towers
as I pass. Then Ohio goes corn corn corn
billboard, goodbye, Islam.
You never forget how to be from Michigan
when you’re from Michigan.
It’s like riding a bike of ice and fly fishing. T
he Upper Peninsula is a spare state
in case Michigan goes flat.

This is the first year the trip has really changed. We're not headed up from North Carolina anymore, and while cutting out a leg of the journey saves about eight hours each way, it's still a weird feeling.

I have a sudden urge to make fifty-million fanmixes. No idea why.

Any ideas/requests? I'm plotting a couple Lost-themed ones (and another specifically for Ben, because I have a one-track mind that way), but I might also make a shortish clonetrooper one, and maybe a general Star Wars one.

Finished my essay for Geoff's class, now I just have my Old English one to finish. Harriet told us we could get it in "before January" LOL, so we're not confined to finals week, which was very nice of her. So almost done with that. *big sigh*

AND THEN THIS OMG:
